mr. everything

In addition to being educated in graphic design and working as an art director, I've been a press writer for USA Hockey, a medical coordinator at a group home for the mentally ill, a maintenance man, a landscaper, a project manager on a construction site, a touring and recording drummer, a drawing teacher, and a facilities supervisor at an ice rink. I'm as comfortable with a 24v brushless hammer drill as I am with InDesign and Illustrator. I can work my hands bloody and I can fix damn near anything.

The bulk of my design experience comes from nine years at Latcha and Associates in Farmington Hills as an art director on automotive accounts. Since 2020, when the world experienced a meltdown, I've been teaching drawing at College for Creative Studies and running a giant ice rink in Ann Arbor.
Over the last couple years, I took a long hiatus from design and fell head-over-heels in love with teaching drawing to college freshmen, a gig I wish I had discovered twenty years ago.

As of today, I wake up every weekday at 4am to drive and maintain three Zamboni ice resurfacers, cultivate three perfect sheets of ice, and work a multi-million-dollar compressor plant in a 155,000 square-foot ice skating facility, all while engaging customers and keeping track of my employees. I do this simply to get by, but I still absolutely pour my heart into it. That's who I am.

It is time to come back to design. I am seeking immediate full-time employment as an art director in the Detroit area. My agency experience is mainly automotive, but I really want to expand into other segments. Hands-on work would be a bonus, since I have skills beyond a computer screen. I still like print, and I clearly like to get my hands dirty.
